[&]History: Born nearly a millenium ago, Serj took an early liking to fire and food, and, encouraged by his parents, became an excellent cook at an early age. Not one to stand still, he took to joining hunts, and the same senses that made him a great cook made him a good tracker. He is a prolific fur-sharer, and even had an extended lovemate relationship with Kesrel, during which he may have been father to one of her children. His combat training and general education fell to Nikel, and the ancient is one of the few people he’s ever really considered a true friend.
He often flouted tradition and ignored what he considered the hide-bound demands of his elders. This inevitably lead him into conflict with his chieftess-- Kevok at the time-- and he challenged her for her position over an disagreement few even remember the details of (mostly because I want to bring it out in play, with other’s input). Needless to say, Kevok nearly killed him, and, after getting him bandaged up, she sent him out from the tribe.
Not one to let an opportunity go to waste, Serj took his exile as a chance to expand his experiences. He spent the next two centuries avoiding humans, dealing with trolls, and occasionally crossing paths with his old teacher. All along the way, he learned whatever he could with a voracious hunger.
It wasn’t until the last century of his exile that his curiosity overcame his fear, and he entered a human city only a few months travel from the current lodge. He kept a low-profile, covering his face and ears with a hood and veil. He took food where he could, but his high standards kept him close to the bakeries, docks, and restaurants. As a result, he came across new techniques and ingredients. He watched, he stole, he learned. It was in this time that he discovered distilled spirits and beer for the first time, and stole as many secrets of their making as he could, going so far as to break into stills at night to try his hand. The humans would find extra work done in the morning, and labeled him a brownie. As a result, they left a bit of the first draught on the windowsill.
After nearly a century among humans, Serj decided that his exile had lasted long enough. He gathered as many flasks, seeds and ingredients as he could, strapped them to the back of a no-hump, and made his way back to the mountains. After the weather got too cold for the no-hump, he found and broke an elk to make the rest of the journey. He found the new lodge and rejoined the tribe, but for a time, he continued to be treated as an exile and someone to be shunned. It wasn't until after the war with the trolls that he was accepted fully into the tribe. He was also able, then, to reveal that he was Sonia's father, and though they couldn't prove it beyond a doubt, she accepted him into her life, in that capacity, regardless of whether or not they truly share blood.
[&]Often seen wearing: Light gray, high-collared leather thigh-length smock or tabbard that closes with frogs down the left side of his torso, loose sleeves to mid-forearm. Piecemeal, well-fitting pants of leather, wool, and silk. Black sheepskin and leather clogs. Hooded snowcat-hide robe, furred, reaching his ankles. Largish (4 gauge) silver hoop in each ear.
His features are fairly sleek, his skin is darker than the average Go-Back from his decades in the sun of the lowlands. His hands and forearms are calloused and scarred from years of working with fire and popping grease. Scar from cheekbone to cheekbone, across the bridge of his nose where Kevok nearly bisected his skull.
[&]Hair: deep chocolate brown, kept in a braided queue from the front of his hairline to the middle of his back.
[&]Eyes: Deep brown
