Surroundings and Defenses
The cove is enclosed by an intricate and complicated coral reef that nearly meets the surface of the water. It has been shaped by Ailani to hinder the entrance of large boats into the cove, though there are open places that allow for the Pod's watercrafts to move through the reef unhindered. The other side of the cove is sheltered by a large rock cliff which is riddled with caves that have been modified into homes for the Pod by Shell, the rockshaper.
History
(taken directly from the Sea Elves RPG book)
Running from fearsome humans, a group of High Ones fled from the Palace in a direction Away-From-Hub-Star (south) and towards Sun-Goes-Down (west) until their way was blocked by a broad crescent-shaped bay, the shore of the Vastdeep water. They hoped to escape the marauding humans by rafting across the bay to the other side of the crescent. The humans would be forced to walk around to the other side of the bay, and hopefully would lose track of their quarry. Treeshapers formed a raft, and the High Ones embarked.
The High Ones attempted to magically propel the craft, but their ever-weakening powers were overcome by the powerful push and pull of the tides, currents, and winds. A storm drained the already-exhausted elves completely, and they were forced to lash themselves to the raft and ride out the tempest.
The storm continued for days, and at the mercy of wind and wave, the High Ones soon lost all sense of direction. After six days afloat, the raft was driven onto the rocky shoals of an island, and was dashed to pieces. A few survivors were left clinging to the wreckage. The survivors were washed ashore on several different islands.
Survival was a struggle, but the elves found allies in the dolphin-like creatures called Wavedancers. These gregarious seal-mammals recognized the elves as friendly, and the elves understood the wavedancers to be clever, helpful, and capable of limited communication. Though they cannot send, wavedancers can understand conceptual images and directions sent by the elves. From the wavedancers the elves learned how to hunt and fight underwater. They also learned which sea plants, fish, and shellfish are safe to eat from the friendly sea creatures (they were left to learn about the island plants through trial and error).

As the pod of elves grew and generations passed, close-knit groups decided to split from the pod to develop their own. Eventually, the tumultuous past of the elves faded into legend, and they called themselves the Wavedancers. Our tribe descends from the original group, with leaders who have been chosen by bloodline or general consensus. Our tribe hasn't had much time to establish a place of their own in recent history due to the growing human population. Most recently, they were ambushed by Firstson Jorvan, son of the Djara of the Southern Stormsea. Our pod fled their southern home in the Mother's Tears islands in search of safe waters, and found a beach to the east of where the Wolfriders live.
