Spindrift is a friendly and cheerful guy, who loves to joke and laugh. He's also very loyal to his family and the pod. Sometimes he's hyperactive, which makes him careless and doesn't notice danger soon enough. Can be distracted by the shineys. And his nature makes him gullible and easy to influence. Slightly jealous of the magic-users, but never hostile about it. Lying is a no-go for him, though white lies are fine, sometimes.

Talks with his hands. Sometimes doesnt know what to do with his hands when he's not engaged in an activity, gets fidgety as a result. Strongly dislikes conflict among elves; he wont involve himself between elves who are arguing, and he actively avoids elves he feels he may in some way end up causing 'drama' with. He can be a bit of a gossip when surrounded by podmates he's comfortable with.

History:
Born during a heavy storm, Spindrift, second son of Sea Nettle and Cascade, was a pip like the storm itself. Loud and hyperactive, he was hard to control and made life difficult for his family. To get into trouble was his specialty, and it happened way to often. Once he tried to follow his father and eventually got lost in the deep sea, but was luckily fetched by Lagoon before something bad could happen. Speaking of his father he didn't really knew him that well, but loved him nevertheless.

As Spindrift grew older, he was apprenticed out to give him something constructive to do when he got fidgety.. He became calmer and less exhausting through learning to work with his hands, calmly. He became aware of his actions and turned into a reliable young adult. At first he started gathering alongside his brother, who's great at collecting things from deep down the water, but noticed that he's better at doing so in shallow water and on land, where he now tends to focus. Later he became part of the pod's hunters, though his apprenticeship didn't last long, Spindrift showed talent with the spear and net. Learning to hunt with a net helped him to improve his skills at making them, as he was able to experiment with new techniques to fit new needs. Now he can do a little of both, hunt and gather, which allows him to fill holes in the work force as needed by the tribe, baking up the experts at either skill when called upon.

As his mothers state got worse (for more info read Lagoon's history), Lagoon was there to care for her. While Spindrift always tried to cheer her up and make her laugh. But in the end her broken heart was unbearable and she gave herself to the sea. The two brothers never really talked about her death, she was gone, and they tried to live with it. Spindrift hardly showed any sorrow, he smiled and laughed like usual, however those closest to him saw that it was forced. In truth, he had come to believe that Cascade had abandoned what remained of her family, and in doing so had made it even smaller.

When the humans attacked, he tried to fight and in the process got heavily wounded. In the end he had to back off and flee with the others. Early on in this new home, he had his work cut out for him gathering and hunting the food needed to keep the tribe going and to set up a surplus. Now, it seems crafters are needed. In addition to cranking out nets and net-bags for everyone, as well as string for clothes and costumes, he has begun learning to paint, so he may be useful in re-making the memory wall in the main Cave.

When Brook found her way to the new cove, physically and emotionally damaged by the humans who had captured her, Spindrift avoided her, for fear of somehow making her pains worse. That avoidance came to a screeching end during the first Spawning ritual in this new home. The pair of them Recognized, and privately after explaining his distance he promised not to act on the instinct until she was ready no matter how long it took. Which actually took all of a few days, as his patience and caring helped Brook to find what she needed within herself to accept Recognition and the chance to start a new family.

As the years went on, more and more of Brook's old extrivert self emerged, the scars of her human captivity becoming more distant with time. Spindrift and Brook spent more time together alone (first with the aid of pipsitters, later enjoying Fairstar's growing independence). Figuring out who and what they were to each other without Recognition calling the shots. They found a true and deepening love for each other. Spindrift joined his mate for several adventurous outings.

He also found time to increase his own skills as a crafter, adding painting to his repartee.  Taking on some of the work of adding images of the pod's history to the den caves. He delighted to find that his daughter too had an interest in crafting. Giving her all the lessons and support he could as she started her career as a jeweler.

Often seen wearing: A tank top made of netting, adorned with shells and seaweed, basic trunks made of green cloth. A sea-opal pendant (The gem was acquired in the thread "Scavenging For Trinkets")

This character originally was created by Rhanee. CIS slightly altered by Jeedai to de-emphasize hunting as a primary aspect, and to swap quick temper out for hyperactivity. Which, granted, can lead to loudness. This was done to help differentiate his background from Uwahi's.

If Character Becomes Inactive: Put him back on the Adoptables list. He was not my creation so I will not kill him off.
