[&]Likes
Climbing cliffs and mountains.
Dancing, singing, and joining. Wherever, with whoever. Big on physical interaction with his tribemates when he’s home, not so much on quiet contemplation around them because he gets enough of that on patrol. Unlike many scouts, he prefers socializing to isolation.
Very much enjoys joining. And the act of seducing potential bedmates.

[&]Dislikes:
He can be impatient when he needs something in order to get to work on something , which is why he started learning to craft the things he needs himself. Something of a tinkerer too, trying to come up with new tools as he funds new problems to solve. Such as the use of metal spikes as pitons to secure anchor lines. (OOC: I will leave it to Allegro’s player to decide if she has allowed him to study metalcrafting)
Very much does not like engaging in petty taunts, cheap jokes at others expense to prove how clever you are, or the malicious schoolyard teasing some Go-Back are into. If he;s badmouthing you at all, you've done something to piss him off.
Disapproves of pointless duels, or duels he sees to be pointless.
Really, really, doesn’t like the unknown. Mysteries are not fascinating puzzles to be explored and enjoyed. They are potential threats that need to be assessed.
[&]Family:
Mother: Shiak... Mother of Tolo and Yarl. Crafter, highly skilled at jury-rig repairs. Died some time before Venka joined the tribe.
Brother: Tolo ... Expert rider and warrior who specialized in mounted combat. Died in battle shortly after the Dance in which Yarl was conceived. Preferred weapon: Lance.
Father: Unknown (Yarl was conceived during an orgy, and has the typical Go-Back lack of concern over this.)
Lovemate: Tengel(deceased), Crucent (Brief, entered into for Tengel's sake, and ended when Tengel died)
Daughter: Friss. Born to Rhet two years and two months after the second war for the mountain
Niece: Beku (Yarl and Beku have both decided without evidence that she is the (distant) descendant of his deceased brother)
[&]History:
It’s been joked that Yarl was climbing up walls before he could walk across floors. He carried the love of that activity to adulthood and made use of it for the good of his tribe. Starting out more of a perimeter guard than a scout, he expanded his skill set, eventually coming under the tutelage of a master scout. He developed an intense, but inexpressible, dislike of Kivok and her methods of 'leading' the tribe.
When Khavi's descendant, Sonia, made herself known to the tribe, Kivok soon disapeared rather than face a tribe that was turning it's loyalties toward another. Yarl was the one that set out to find Sonia and offer her command of the tribe. She soon led the tribe to a home, and through war for it, and Yarl became one of her most trusted advisors.
YArl is very enamored of Cutter's dream of unifying all elves. He heard of it from Alyial (among other things) and tries to live up to it. After the discovery of the Wolfriders, he advocated an alliance, and participated in the battle against the Mindlurker plaguing both tribes. Many months later, when Ironskin's trolls were poisoning he tribe, he brought Grimjaw into contact with Sonia and later on the tribe, seeking a joint attack on the mutual enemy. Lodge-side, he was one of the first to speak up for incorporating Serj back into the tribe after a long exile (It didnt hurt that Serj was exiled by a former cheiftess that Yarl didnt care for).
He hasnt always lived up to that ideal though. Until recently, he was engaged in a long feud with Meeran regarding her intentions on Tengel. A feud which lost all relevance after the death of Tengel in the second war for the mountain. Yarl soon buried the hatchet with Meeran. But now holds Allegro in silent contempt, blaming her lies prior to the second war for Tengel's death. He pursued his own ties with Grimjaw's band of friendly trolls, particularly with her second-in-command Quake, in part to keep Allegro from ever again hoarding information on the world beneath the mountain to herself. And also because that's what Cutter would do.
The years after the war brought more positive changes to Yarl's life. First, Sanera took him on as a teacher when she decided to branch out from sewing. Next, the birth of his daughter Friss, whose mother Rhet was happy to let Yarl have an equal role in raising. And later, when he was elevated to a position as Sonia's Second. Tied in rank with Allegro, though his duties revolve more around diplomacy and keeping the tribe running while Allegro's focus more tightly around defense/warfare/weapon-armor making etc.
Often seen wearing:
Silver hooded jacket, lined in fur, often pulled up over his head even near the Lodge to keep it warm (see Hair). Boots lined to match the jacket, and thick pants. (Jewelry and such TBD)
Always carries at least one metal ice-pick in the loops on his belt , and often has a measure of rope looped around his chest. When he goes on patrol he carries a good-sized backpack for supplies.
Body:
[&]Height/Build: 4'0". Athletic build, not too bulky, not too lanky, just right.
[&]Hair: Copper, currently close-cropped.
[&]Eyes: Steel grey, angular.
[&]Face: Rectangle-shaped, with a strong jaw. Medium-thick eyebrows.
[&]Picture: (Optional. Small size, please.)
[&]Bonded animal: None. He does have an elk trained as to be his mount, though, Loudhoof (male). (His previous elk was a female named Stonebounder)
