With Meeran's baby's name announced, we are now CLEARED TO MOVE FORWARD! Plot 3 starts soon! In the meantime, feel free to continue your current threads, and make new threads at your own risk; things will start getting wild at the Wavedancers! Below, I will post a summary of what's happened at each of the camps, but these are just general happenings; please use this thread to talk about what happened for each of your characters, and work out any interpersonal relationships that may have developed!
I'll start new threads for the new Wolfriders' introduction and the new plot 3 thread soon, so keep your shirts on!
Wolfriders: It's been quite an eventful two years for the Wolfriders. Badger and Mistblossom have adjusted decently to their new roles as chiefs, and have done their best to work out any objections or concerns that had arisen in the aftermath of Wolfdancer's departure, while welcoming two new members to the tribe. Wolfdancer's pack, released from his control, either merged with the Wolfriders' bond-pack, or left with the bonds of those who'd died in the troll wars.
The next Newgreen was especially rainy, which caused the river to flood more often than not, and kept the Wolfriders indoors if they didn't need to be anywhere. Softfur and Starfall, in a welcome dry night, decided to try to fish and replenish the tribe's food stores; unfortunately, Softfur was pulled into the river, and Starfall made a bad dive trying to save her. Both were killed.
A turn later, the long-awaited cub of Mistblossom and Badger was brought into the world, and she was named Moonblade. The tribe celebrated their new, tiny tribesmate, and the parents found themselves adjusting to yet another new role. Though she loved her roles as mother and chieftess, Mistblossom had to admit to herself that she could not do everything, not even with Badger by her side. That following Longdays, she called a council, and the tribe banded together to get a single send to Ember, asking for any new blood who wished to come to them. Now, they wait to see who their new tribesmates will be...if any come at all.
Go-Backs: The snow elves had a restful two turns. After Nikel's departure for training, Allegro tried to reintegrate into the tribe instead of surviving on the outskirts, but she still feels that many don't truly understand her. Sonia's fawn was born, along with Ruska's, and another tribesmate was found heavy too, with two males barking over who sired the latest fawn. Serj found a tentative place in the tribe, with the stigma around his past melting away, as a teacher, teaching whoever wanted to listen about herbs that were good roasted with meat, or good for making odd human drinks that made their minds fuzzy. Truly for the snow elves, life has been simple and quiet.
But below, the troll caves have been buzzing with activity. Grimjaw was pronounced Queen Grimjaw by the surviving trolls, and after a turn spent in the forest finding clever mumps and recovering from their ordeal under Ironskin's fist, they moved back to the mountain. The ones who'd been in the forest longest felt that the Wolfriders wouldn't be too keen on rekindling their trading arrangements, and those who had traded with them had been killed in the onslaught. With her connection to the Go-Backs still alive and well, Grimjaw decided to move her new clan back to the mountain, becoming guardians in the tunnels. Though the Wicked Holes still whistle and moan menacingly, the tunnels below ring with the sound of forges, learning, and life.
Wavedancers: The sea elves have also had a quiet two turns, though not as quiet as the Go-Backs. Whitecolds were hard for them, and the tailors did their best to keep the tribe warm. The first season, they mostly huddled around fires and in huts, and hunted when they could, just trying to stay warm. By the second, they had a little more experience with the cold, but knew they were just missing some key knowledge. With another whitecold season pending, how will they make the best of those three moons?
Their Spawnings weren't fruitful, but they didn't mind as much, as the pod itself didn't rely on Recognition. Sinsiew's pip, a surprise to many, brought cheer and joy to the pod, and Brook's swelling belly reminded them all that Recognition could strike at any time. But is there another podmember about to pop?
Sinsiew's death was a set-back; a joyful life taken by a bellyripper. But the pod banded together to raise her pip and support their top singer as best as they could. Soon after, a heated council meeting caused Oahni, the gentle red-headed warrior, to head for the sunnier shores of Broken Mountain. He was still tormented by the battle that had caused the pod to flee north in the first place, and his need to protect his lovemates, Iraelia and River, grew smothering. He knew he needed to grow and learn, and the best elves to teach him were at Broken Mountain. He took his tearful leave, hoping that one day, he could return to the pod with a clear mind.
The latest Spawning has passed, and no new Recognitions struck the pod; but the birth of Brook's pip kept them from dwelling too long on that! On top of that, Leaffall is upon them, and they have to prepare for the Whitecold. It's been difficult, with the weather lately...blustery winds and fierce waves have kept many ashore. Will they be able to prepare in time? Or is a visit to the Wolfriders coming sooner than they expected?
