In Character
[&]Full Name: Sunsnake
[&]Soul Name: Osa
[&]Tribe: Plainsrunner
[&]Age: Adult - 357
[&]Gender: Male
[&]List Of Personality:
-Vigilant: Sunsnake is constantly on the lookout. He seems ever alert, and even on edge at times. It makes it hard for him to be surprised as he is always scanning for an invisible threat. Out in the open areas, this trait is far more exaggerated and prominent to the point of hypervigilance and he is exceptionally irritable and moody in this state.
-Hardworking: While he hates mornings, Sunsnake is often the first to rise and the last to leave. He may have his faults with his more dismissive and cooler attitude towards others, but no one can deny how much effort he puts into any task in front of him. The herder will often work to the point of exhaustion and only to do so again the next day.
-Intuitive and Introspective: Sunsnake, prior to the conflict with the humans, was a quiet and thoughtful soul. The quiet herder was often the source of advice and insight to others and his emotional intelligence was high. He’s always been an ‘old soul’, even when he was just a cub though now he tends to be more broody than not. Sunsnake uses his insight into others to push them away if they venture too close to him emotionally. Along with his introspective nature, he is also adept at weaving stories just as his mother was, though he will rarely do so at this point.
-Orderly: The herder is highly organized and almost ritualistic in the manner of which he does things. From chores to setting up camp, there is an order and structured routine to everything he does.
-Somber: While Sunsnake has always been quiet, recently he has become even more somber in his demeanor over the past 50 years. The quiet and kind young elf is more brooding and sullen than many might remember him to be. Even if someone manages to get a smile or laughs out of him, it lacks the enthusiasm that it once did.
-Proud: The conflict with the humans couldn’t completely take Sunsnake’s pride from him. He holds his head high, owning his choice to stay and does not apologize for it despite everything that has happened. While his personality has shifted, he still retains the pride that his parents once held as children of the Sun Village.
-Callous and Cynical: Sunsnake is often cooler and distant to his peers, guarding himself against too much contact with others. He busies himself with tending to the herd and other work but when speaking with others of the tribe he tends to be blunt and dismissive.
-Short Tempered: The pony herder in a previous life was easy-going and calm and that still remains true for Sunsnake to a point. He has become increasingly moody and will lose his cool at what seems to be almost at random. Something unheard of previously is not wholly uncommon with him now.
His personality has had a shift since the tribe slipt and Araf went to war with the humans. He’s more withdrawn and cynical but he has moments where the kinder and more like his old self. It’s often when no one is watching or if he’s in a decent mood.

[&]History:
Sunsnake’s parents were simple people, loved members of the tribe. His mother, Warmsun, was a skilled midwife and loved to tell stories to the cubs. His father, Vihar, was a hunter and forager. And under starry skies during the Festival of Flood and Flower, their son was conceived. Such joy that it brought Warmsun, often telling her favorite tale passed from generation to generation from the Sun Village. It was the tale of the Maiden and the Snake, a tale of adventure and friendship! A maiden was lost in the dunes of the desert, chased in fear from her tribe. She happened upon a dune snake and offered the small snake a sip from her diminishing waterskin. To repay the maiden’s kindness, the small snake lead the maiden across the great expansive dunes to the grassy plains and finally to wondrous caves that the tribe now frequents to this very day! The tale often changes with each telling, but the kind maiden and the gracious snake always remains the same. Warmsun's tales of snakes were often born from inspiration from her dear older brother, Briarsnake.
Sunsnake was born on the hottest day of the year and it was during the summer drought that nearly claimed his mother and the newly born babe. With great effort from the tribe, Warmsun pulled through the rocky birthing, naming the child after the warm sands of her heritage and the snake from the tale.
The cub was a bright child, a kind soul. He was also quite soft-spoken and behaved. He doted upon his mother, always her shadow growing up. Life was hard, as it often was for the tribe, but they were happy.
As Sunsnake grew, he was drawn more and more to the open plains and to the traveling herds of ponies and it wasn’t long before he was underfoot of the tenders there. It was no surprise that as he aged, he spent more and more time in the grass and with the other herders. Not only did he find a fondness for ponies, but for snakes as well. His uncle passed on his love and knowledge of the scaled creatures to his younger sister and through her, now to Sunsnake as well.
Life continued as expected, he grew older exploring himself and others until upon the cusp of adulthood the tribe began to change. The tribe was fractured between two factions and his father choose to side with Araf. Unsure, Sunsnake followed in the footsteps of his father and it would prove to be a fatal choice for his small family. During the conflict, the young herder was often a calming voice, stating that they fought the humans to protect their family, once the thread was abated, then there was no further need to fight.
Araf, in his madness, deemed that all had to fight and it wasn’t long before Sunsnake joined in the war against humans. It was something that slowly changed him, bringing him to a turning point on whether he would become a warrior or just another elf trampled underfoot. During an ambush on the humans and their supplies lines, Sunsnake struggled within himself to kill a man and in his hesitation was nearly killed himself had it not been for his father who threw himself into the fatal blow. Vihar died and something within the young boy died as well.
Things only seemed to spiral ever downwards as his mother fell victim to the death of her lifemate, sorrow ate away at her until she was but a husk, unable, or perhaps unwilling to fend off human combatants in the next foray. Sunsnake was numb to her passing, the violence and death seemed almost normal until the last foray that took the mad Chief’s life. The trap was sprung on their fallen leader’s hubris and Sunsnake hardly remembers that terrible night. He, like the rest of his tribe, was scattered to the wind; he wandered upon a fallen tribemate’s mare and dragged himself upon her back, not caring where she took him, so long as he escaped the scene of death and despair that lay behind them that night.
The unlikely wandered for many moons, Sunsnake unsure of his fate and future. He learned to fend for himself for a time, leaning on the skills from his father to keep himself alive several months on his own. However, he was conflicted and lonely. He missed his tribe, his family and after so long on his own he set himself on the path to find the wandering sister tribe, unsure if he would be welcomed back into the fold of his kin.

Lone Mare
Any other information: Sunsnake suffers from PTSD. While there is no official term for it, he believes that some of his symptoms, like his night terrors, are ‘curses’ from the violence brought upon the humans. He quarantines himself off because of the intense shame and guilt he feels for what has happened and the violence he has brought to the humans, believing that he is no better than they are.
