[&]Likes
Fighting, feeling like she is doing her part for her tribe, the thrill of combat, the satisfying thump Trolls make when they drop dead, gambling, the satisfaction of a night where nothing happened to the Lodge or its inhabitants, training, mead, hitting things, singing/music, drumming, wrestling.
[&]Dislikes:
Magic (because you can’t swing a sword at it) Everything else isn’t worth fretting about. Because when it becomes a bother, you can swing a sword at it.
[&]Phobias:
Every warrior who sees grim and grisly sights on a regular basis still has that one thing that gets in under their mental defenses. For Beku, it's brains. The sight and smell of them nauseates her severely.
[&]Family:
Mother: Chev (deceased).
Father, unknown (orgy? knocked up before an orgy started?)
Lovemate: Meridi
"Uncle": Yarl (Yarl and Beku have both decided without evidence that she is a (distant) descendant of his elder brother)
Cousin: Friss (Yarl's daughter)
Ancestor: Atta (deceased), Beku's mother's maternal grandmother. Famed swimmer who died of illness brought on by a famine.
[&]History:
Beku has a Go-Back ‘life-wish’: She throws herself into whatever she’s doing with a great deal of enthusiasm.
When Beku was a teenager her mother fell in battle with a troll who came for vengeance for wounds and losses received during the war for the mountain 60 years before. Beku doesn’t suffer any ‘issues’ as a result of that; dying is part of living. She danced for her mother and moved on. Beku inherited from her mother a sturdy, muscular for a female, frame. Which she put to effective use as a guard.
She managed to become a student of Nikel in the arts of war, and was eager to prove herself to him, but it took time to temper her very youthful exuberance. Between his teachings and trying to live up to her mother's example, she developed to have a hidebound set of values. These values brought her into conflict with more than one member of the tribe (particularly the 'traitor' Serj), or encouraged her to disregard the 'domestic' members of it.
A change in her rigid views started just prior to the discovery of the local wolfrider tribe. When she began a career in combat training, with Balin, Oryn, and Meeran as her earliest students. They taught her to be more flexible. Soon after, she expressed her love for and mated with Meridi, a change which came with life lessons of its own. The war with the trolls, and particularly the discovery if Allegro's lies leading up to it, sparked her to revise her view on Serj and seek to make amends. And even learn from him, becoming his student in the human language, as she saw strategic value in more than one elf being able to speak it. Friss' birth brought the endpoint of a change that started with teaching Balin; that of getting over her nervousness around cubs. Over the past 15 years, she and Friss have become true family.
[&]Often seen wearing:
The snaggled fang tooth of a Troll who had a face full of oversized teeth. This is a souvenir from her first troll-kill Worn through a piercing in her right ear. A metal banded hide shield decorated with foxtails strapped to the bottom. A headband, which is adorned with small metal circles for armor. (This trinket was acquired in her Cheif's Walk). A signal horn about a cord around her neck. Tends to wear darker leathers than many, as a guard she wants to be seen. As of the thread "Food For The Life-Bearer" Beku wears a bear's tooth in the other ear.
Body: Her skin's about as ruddy as a Go-Back gets. As of the second war with the trolls, she has a diagonal scar on the right side of her ribcage under the armpit from a sword strike. An older scar is the one that splits her left eyebrow, the result of Garech showing off with a practice sword during a weapon-exchange challenge.
Height/Build: 4' 1" tall. Muscular build with firm definition (a female with a distinct six-pack). Average-sized breasts.
[&]Hair: Dark brown hair, bound up behind and above her ears into two unbraided pigtails that don’t quite reach her shoulders. Short bangs.
[&]Eyes: Silver. Angular eyebrows. She has a gap in her left eyebrow, from a wound.
[&]Face: Diamond shaped face, with a ‘go ahead, try it’ smirk. Full lips.
[&]Picture: Yes, please. ;D
[&]Bonded animal: None. Has access to the pool of elks, but does not have a specific mount.
[&]Any other information: :
Blade Collection: The primary decoration in Beku's partition of the Lodge is a wooden rack for storing her blades. She maintains a longsword, shield, four throwing daggers, and a bag of steel sling bullets. As well as her mother's greatsword, which she continues to think of as her mother's and will until she can use it in battle thereby earning the right to call it her own. At any given time she may also have a wooden training sword and a shortsword for fighting in close quarters, taken from group weapon storage but not necessarily put back until she's sure she's done with them.
If Character Becomes Inactive: Make her a background NPC until I get back. I will not abandon any character without formally leaving the group. At which point Uwahi can go up for adoption.
EDIT12/27/16: Updated Beku's CIS for the second time-skip. Removed all over edit notes.
