- Peaceful. Unlike the turbulent rivers that he was named for, River is generally a very zen individual. Very little phases him and he doesn't get angry easily. 
- Determined. Once he has started working on something, he doesn't like to leave the project until it is finished. This includes working long hours on it, to the point where he forgets to sleep or eat.
- Changing. Like the changing rivers when the seasons change, River often goes from being very organized to being fairly chaotic where his hut is concerned. When he's in the middle of a project his work area can be an organized chaos, with things in piles all over the place.
- Stubborn. Once he has an idea in mind, he is stubborn and rooted like a tree.
- Jovial. Likes to laugh. However, he has a very intense gaze, as though he is trying to sort out what is going on inside of whomever he is looking at.

History:

River was the second child of Whitecrest and Aeronwy, who were the carver and cook of the Pod, respectively. He was born about twenty years after his sister Brook, who took after neither of her parents and was most interested in climbing the windy cliffs to gather eggs. River learned his craft from both his father and mother, picking up cooking and wood carving. He was always a determined child and could often be seen working where the other pips were playing as he attempted to perfect his art. Though he was never close to his sister as other siblings were, he still adored her for her tenacity and wit.

Very little could sway his concentration when he was working. Waterlily was one of the only exceptions to this, the only one who could turn his head when he was in the middle of a project. When she would walk by his eyes would follow. He pursued and won her with his easy laugh and gentle charm. She was the only elf that he took any interest in having a committed love-mating with, though both of them had plenty of bedmates.

During the battle with the Landers, his training took a distinct turn towards being a warrior. He fought alongside the others at the front lines, defending his Pod from those who would threaten their safety. His size and strength was an advantage in this situation, and he survived where many others did not. Both of his parents were taken from him, as well as his love-mate. During the battle his sister was nowhere to be found and is still missing, presumed to be dead.

It was not until after the battle and the Pod had moved that he discovered his plant-shaping abilities. Since then he has not spent much time developing them, as he is more accustomed to working with his hands than shaping things to suit his needs. He would rather not have to depend on magic, though he will use it to the benefit of his pod, such as growing edible plants or shaping a particularly stubborn piece of wood.

Since the Pod moved locations, River has been even more dedicated to the building of homes and transportation for his people, and works night and day to make sure they have places to live and ways of gathering food. Currently his own hut is also a workshop, as he sleeps next to whatever he is crafting. His sculpture can be raw and emotional, though lately he has been refining it much more, perhaps in response to the rough edge on life as of late.

Recently, Brook has reappeared and River has been trying to help his sister through her survivor's guilt and her inner and outer scars.

Often seen wearing:
Pauldrons made of oiled seal leather that cover both of his shoulders. His top is made of leather strips that criss-cross his body, and he wears bracers of shark-skin on his forearms. He wears a leather loincloth with a beaded belt. His legs are otherwise bare. 

Hair: His hair is a dark brown, done up in many braids almost like dreads that go down to his waist.
Eyes: Steely gray with a piercing gaze.
Appearance: River is physically larger than most elves, both in height and in muscle-mass. He has wide shoulders and could not be considered "lean" though he is quite graceful when he dances. His skin is golden brown from spending so much time above water. There are grey spots along his cheekbones and over his shoulders and back that match the webbing in his ears and between his fingers and toes. As he doesn't spend as much time in the water as the others do, he does not have any fins on his arms or legs.
