Hey everyone! We're stoked to announce that we're revamping the timeline to something more visual, and we hope that this will make it easier to remember when certain things happen in relation to other things, especially when threads happen so closely to each other!
With this change comes a new rule that is to be implemented IMMEDIATELY, which will help us immensely. Please read this entire post and comment that you have read this post and understand the contents.
The new rule should be familiar to those of you who post on Oakleaf After Dark; each thread starts with a small form that has participants and content tags. We're porting that idea to Oakleaf as a whole. From now on, each thread needs to start with:
Date: (Season/Day/Year) (you may add time of day if you like, but Wolfriders will default to evenings, and other tribes will default to days)
Participants: (Character 1, Character 2, tags go here) (open/closed/open to #)
That's it. So, for example:
Thread Title: All The Single Laddies (this obviously goes in the Subject line)
Date: Newgreen 27 128 A.S.
Participants: OPEN
Simple, right?
Any threads started after this post, in year 128 A.S., that are missing Dates and Participants will be locked until edited accordingly. You are certainly free to continue tagging people as you like as well!
You're probably asking yourself now, but High Ones, how do we know what day? We've never had days before!
Introducing the Visual Timeline! This is still largely under construction, but we will have a link for you. Before we give that out, we'd like to explain how it works.
Our current Timeline thread will stay up as reference for summaries, and we do strongly encourage people to continue adding to the Timeline thread! However, we will add links to certain Google Docs for your reference. Before we go any further, to access these docs, you do NOT need to sign in. Anyone with the link will be able to see AND comment, but only mods can edit. We'll have one Global Visual Timeline and separate timelines for major plots. Each of the major plot timelines will be linked in the Global one.
Here is the link to the Plot 4 Timeline. You'll see all of the threads that happen for Plot 4 or AROUND Plot 4 here, including 3 Tribes.
Again, this Visual Timeline is just for your reference. If you'd like to comment where your next thread goes, all you do is scroll down to the day, highlight the day number and the moons phases, and a little comment icon should pop up to the right. We'll see it, add your thread, and resolve! The Visual Timeline also contains, as just mentioned, moons phases, and threads are color-coded. We may add more celestial events in the future. Your short forms at the start of each thread will help us immensely in keeping this up to date. As we link Plot 3, Plot 2, Plot 1, and the Global Visual Timeline, we will require dates and times on associated threads.
All seasons have 90 days, and each row represents two hands of days. This keeps the timeline easy to read and easy for mods to update, as each year will have the same moons phases and table layout.
We'll update the rules list and the Timeline thread here shortly, but in the meantime, please reference this post for information and comment if you need any clarity. Thanks, everyone!
